In 2024, I raised all my chickens from chicks, and I've loved every minute of it. I currently have about 12 hens and more roosters than I probably need, but so far, they've managed to keep the peace. They're excellent at keeping my girls happy and safe. My flock has the freedom to roam across 2 acres, with a large coop and a fenced area where they help us by keeping the bugs in check. They free-feed on hen feed as they wish.

One of my favorite daily rituals is scratch feeding. It allows me to get a close look at everyone, strengthen trust by hand-feeding, and just enjoy time with my flock. They give me about a dozen eggs per day, which I can sell as hatching eggs or wash and sell as eating eggs. My previous customers have reported an 80-90% hatch rate with my hatching eggs, but I haven't hatched any myself yet since I don't have an incubator.

Each day, my flock lays a mix of eggs: about 60% brown, 15% blue/green, and 25% white, although it can vary from time to time. I have Silkies, Easter Eggers, Cuckoo Marans, Leghorns, Pearl Onyx, Old English Game Chickens, and others. It is a true barnyard mix that is sure to be a great selection for a rainbow of eggs and a hearty mix of chickens.

You will need to arrange pickup ahead of time as my stock runs out very quickly. The entrance is gated and we will not know you are there unless we know to come out and look for you, so appointments are a must.
